SSolarium Jigsaw Puzzle Territory Blockade

Martha Higgins claimed the prime solarium corner table on the first of the month. Her method of territorial domination was brilliantly infuriating. She deployed a five-thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle of a European coastline, spreading the cardboard shards across every available inch of mahogany. To deter interlopers, she established a tactical perimeter of half-empty teacups and strategically placed crochet needles. The bridge syndicate, led by the ruthless Richard Vance, watched from the hallway with growing outrage.

Richard required that exact table for his afternoon card games. The morning light offered the perfect glare to blind his opponents. He approached Martha under the guise of casual conversation. His titanium shoehorn tapped against his orthopedic footwear in a threatening rhythm. He leaned over the scattered pieces, casually suggesting that at her current pace, she might expire before finishing the sky. Martha did not flinch. She simply adjusted her bifocals and snapped two identical blue pieces together with the force of a gavel.

By Tuesday, Richard launched a covert offensive. During the mandatory fire drill, he slipped past the solarium and pocketed four crucial edge pieces. He hid them deep within the elastic folds of his medical-grade compression socks. He assumed this psychological warfare would break her spirit. He underestimated the sheer spite of a woman who once successfully filibustered a condo association meeting for six hours over the shade of the lobby curtains.

Martha retaliated with brutal efficiency. She discovered the missing edges and immediately initiated protocol omega. She positioned her heavily weighted rolling walker directly over the floor outlet, trapping the power cord of the sole reading lamp beneath thick rubber wheels. Richard arrived for his scheduled bridge game to find the room plunged into an impenetrable twilight. Martha sat in the gloom, sipping her lukewarm tea, snapping another puzzle piece into place entirely by touch. The bridge syndicate has officially been neutralized.
